The Little Match Girl

The Little Match Girl is relocated to 19th century Birmingham in Language Alive’s adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s classic children’s story. Using an engaging mix of puppetry, toy theatre and song, The Little Match Girl provides opportunities to explore a range of curriculum themes including the impact of changes in society, the growth of factories, the employment of children and the work of philanthropists such as Lord Shaftesbury. The children are invited to put themselves in the shoes of decision makers of the day as well as experience life as a child at that time.

Age recommendation: Years 5 & 6
